The former mayor of Colorado City, Tim Boyd remains in hot water after posting a typo-ridden tirade on social media that was anything yet thoughtful to residents having a hard time in the middle of the winter season blast.
In a Facebook post made Tuesday morning, Tim Boyd composed that it is “not the local government’s responsibility to support you during trying times like this! Sink or swim, it’s your choice!”
As for the power failures that have left hundreds of Texans in the cold, Boyd wrote: “The City and County, along with power providers or any other service owes you NOTHING! I’m sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout! If you don’t have electricity you step up and come up with a game plan to keep your family warm and safe.”
“Boyd continued at length, saying that he was “sick and tired” of people looking for handouts and that the current situation is “sadly a product of a socialist government.”
“Only the strong will survive and the weak will parish,” he wrote.
The post is no longer available, but numerous screenshots show it and a follow-up post he made several hours later in which he said he stood by the sentiments in his first missive. He wrote that he would have either kept his mouth shut or phrased his message better if he could do things over.
“I would never want to hurt the elderly or anyone that is in true need of help to be left to fend for themselves,” Boyd said. “I was only making the statement that those folks that are too lazy to get up and fend for themselves but are capable should not be dealt a handout.”
He apologized for the original post’s wording but said the harassment his family had received as a result was uncalled for.”Source
Very sad to observe this state of mind in the difficulty in which Texas finds itself.
